Bible

Though its an ancient book, the Bible is surprisingly contemporary in addressing issues that relate to our lives today. What follows are some suggested topics of interest.

Love
What is love and what does it look like in action? Is love more than just a feeling? How can I experience real love? (1 Corinthians 13; John 3:16, 15:9-11; Ephesians 5:1-2)
Sex
One book of the Bible has been avoided by many because of the passionate and suggestive dialogue between two young lovers. Those who believe the Bible doesn’t talk about sex have never read the Song of Songs (aka Song of Solomon)
Marriage
A long lasting marriage and solid family are worthy life goals. There is nothing easy about beginning and maintaining a marriage that will last a lifetime, but the Bible explains how it can be done. (Ephesians 5:15-33)
Meaning
Life can sometimes make you wonder if there is any meaning at all to what happens. Read what one of the richest men in the history of the world had to say about life. (Ecclesiastes)
Anger
What is the proper way to deal with anger? When is anger wrong? (Mark 11:15-18; Ephesians 4:26; Galatians 5:19-20; James 1:19-20; Psalms 15:1, 37:8)
Doubt
Thomas doubted Jesus, but rather than condemn Thomas Jesus invited him to investigate. (John 20:24-29; Psalms 77)
Peace
Wouldn’t it be nice if someone would take the things that weigh us down and replace our burdens with real peace? Jesus said that he would do just that, becoming our refuge and source of peace. (John 14:27; Romans 5:1-2; Ephesians 2:13-14)
Death
Why do people die and what happens to them after death? (Genesis 3; Hebrews 9:27; John 17:3; 1John 5:11-13)
Philosophy
Paul, an educated philosopher, was not afraid to “mix it up” with the leading intellectuals of his day. (Acts 17)
Poetry
The Psalms contain some of the most melodious poetry ever penned. (Psalms)
History
The Bible is full of stories that are recorded history. Learn about the roots of the Jewish people from the first five books of the Bible. (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy)
Worry
A million things can cause anxiety, but the Bible provides a better, healthier perspective than what we would normally hear. (Matthew 6:33; Philippians 4:6-7; 1Peter 5:7)
Prayer
God created prayer as a way for us to talk to him personally, whenever and we want to. (Matthew 7:7-8; James 4:8; 1John 5:14-15)
Temptation
Everyone deals with temptation. The Bible identifies the source of temptation and provides the key to resisting, avoiding, and standing firm in the face of temptation. (Matthew 4:1-17; 1 Corinthians 10:13; 2 Thessalonians 3:3; Hebrews 2:18, 4:14-16; 1 Peter 5:8-11)
Suffering
The Bible is filled with stories of individuals and group who endured great trials in their lives. Whatever you are going through, you can find help and perspective here. (Job; 2 Corinthians 4:17; Romans 8:18; 2 Corinthians 4:7-18, 12:16-33)
Revenge
A natural response to being hurt is to seek revenge, but is that the best response? Believe it or not, God talks about revenge in the Bible. (Romans 12:14, 19-21; Matthew 5:43-44; Luke 6:31)
